He was in the long-term lot near the Otay Mesa crossing, not the terminal, which is one of those lots where the rows all look the same and nothing moves fast. He'd flown in from the East Coast, had a territory meeting in about three hours, and his 2018 QX60 was sitting there completely unresponsive. No door unlock, no response from the fob, nothing.
He didn't know there was an emergency blade folded inside the fob. A lot of QX60 owners don't, because they've never needed it. He'd been pulling the door handle over and over like the fob was just being slow.

The wireless signal had dropped out because the CR2032 had given up entirely, and that communication dropout was logged as a fault.
Battery swap, cleared the fault, walked the fob through all five buttons and the door handles. Everything came back normal.
He made his meeting. The dealer would have cost him three days and a tow on top of it. He paid a fraction of that and didn't miss a single appointment.
