2020 Infiniti QX60
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How fast can you get to my location in The Crosby area of Rancho Santa Fe?

In most cases I can be there within 30 minutes of your call, depending on where I am when you reach me. Everything I need, key blanks, programming equipment, and the tools specific to Infiniti smart key work, rides with me. No service bay, no waiting for a part to be ordered. You call, I come to you.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made the same day?

Yes, and that is usually why people call me instead of going to the dealer. The Infiniti dealer typically has to order a smart key by VIN, and forum threads from QX60 owners describe wait times ranging from a couple of days to well over a week just to get the key in hand, let alone programmed.

Q: My QX60 shows a key-not-detected warning but the fob battery is fine. What else could cause that?

This comes up a lot on QX60 forums and the answer is almost never the fob itself. RF interference is a common culprit. A phone resting close to the fob, a USB charger plugged into the center console, or even an aftermarket device tapped into the vehicle's electrical system can all disrupt the signal between the fob and the antennas the vehicle uses to detect it.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2020 QX60. Can I program it myself?

No. The 2020 QX60 smart key does not have a self-programming sequence you can run from the driver's seat. Registering a new fob to the vehicle's security system requires professional diagnostic equipment connected through the OBD port. The fob you bought online is just a blank until that step happens. If you already have the fob, bring it or have it on hand when you call, and I can program it on site rather than supplying a new one.

2020 Infiniti QX60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Sunday morning at a yoga studio in The Crosby, Rancho Santa Fe. A studio owner walked out after teaching her first class, fob in hand, and the QX60 just sat there. No response to the door handles, nothing from the buttons, no push-button start. The Infiniti dealer was dark until Monday and her next class was two hours out.

The only number that answered was mine.

I pulled into the lot about 40 minutes later. First thing I did was pull the fob apart and check the CR2032. Dead, which explained the obvious symptoms. But a fresh battery alone did not bring it back the way it should have, which told me the fob needed to be re-registered, not just powered back up.

I connected through the OBD port, pulled the security access I needed, and programmed a replacement smart key to her vehicle. Once it paired, I walked every function: door handles, lock, unlock, start, and range from across the lot.

She had time to drive home, change, and make it back for her second class. The dealer quote she got Monday morning, out of curiosity, was a lot more than what she paid me, and it would have been a Tuesday at the earliest. Weekends run the same rate for me regardless.

Infiniti QX60 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

How long does a 2020 Infiniti QX60 key replacement take?▼

For an add-a-key situation where at least one working key exists, figure 30 to 45 minutes on site. That covers programming the new smart key through the OBD port, verifying the transponder chip is enrolled in the vehicle's security system, and testing every function including the door handles and start button. All-keys-lost takes longer. When no working key exists, getting security access and completing the full re-registration process adds time to the job.
