Your 2023 Infiniti QX60 uses a Smart Key with 4 buttons on the face, a CR2032 battery inside powering the wireless communication, and a high-security emergency blade tucked inside the fob body. That blade slides out when the fob battery dies and you need to physically open the door. There's also a transponder chip that talks to the IMMO module every time you press start.
An Airbnb host at her beach house near Garden Road had a QX60 with a cracked smart key shell. The seam had split along the edge and the buttons were getting unreliable. She took it to the Infiniti dealer and they told her the only fix was a complete new fob, cut and programmed, for $528. What they didn't mention is that the chip and circuit board inside were perfectly fine. She just needed a new shell.
I met her at her beach house driveway with replacement shells and my NSN11 Lishi for the newer Nissan and Infiniti keyway. Her key's FCC ID was KR5TXN1. I swapped the electronics from her cracked shell into a fresh housing, verified every button and the wireless range, then cut a new blade from the decode.
She paid about $281 for the full job. The dealer wanted $528 to replace parts that still worked.
