2021 Lexus IS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a guy in Lakeside Proper who had just come back from a long weekend trip. Somewhere between packing the car and getting home, he lost both fobs for his 2021 Lexus IS. Not one. Both. The car was sitting in his driveway looking completely fine and completely useless at the same time.
All-keys-lost on a push-button Lexus is the job that makes people spiral. There is no ignition cylinder to stick a spare in, no backup you can just cut at a hardware store. The car needs to wirelessly detect a registered fob before it will even power up fully. When every registered fob is gone, it just sits there.
He had already called the dealer. They told him it would be a multi-day wait for parts and a tow if he needed one, and the number they quoted him made him pause. Then he found me.
I came out to Lakeside Proper. With all-keys-lost on this system, the old key data has to be cleared before anything new will register. I backed up the relevant module data first, then ran the enrollment through the OBD port. The 2021 IS uses a current-generation security architecture that requires proper diagnostic tooling. No shortcuts, no ignition tricks.
New fob came up, tested every function at the car, walked him through the emergency blade location inside the fob body. He saved a significant chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, and he did not need a tow.
The whole job wrapped in his driveway. He asked if he should order a third fob as a spare and keep it somewhere safe. Yes. Always yes.
