2000 Nissan Maxima Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy parked near the Moonlight Beach lot in Encinitas. He had a 2000 Nissan Maxima and one key. He wanted a spare before that one key became a crisis. Smart thinking.
When I got there he handed me the original. The head of it was cracked down the middle, repaired with electrical tape wrapped tight around the plastic. It had been like that for a while. He was not wrong to call when he did.
I cut a new key blade to match his ignition using his original as the pattern, then seated the replacement transponder chip and programmed it to the car. On a Maxima this age, if a working key is present, the registration process is done at the vehicle without a lot of back and forth. No tow, no appointment, no dropping it off and waiting for a callback.
He tested it himself before I packed up. Turned over clean on the first try.
The dealer conversation never really came up. He had already called them once about something else and decided that road was not for him. I do not blame him.
