2016 Nissan Maxima
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2016 Nissan Maxima Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy in Carlton Hills called me on a Tuesday morning. He was on a fixed income and had been driving to a dialysis clinic in Santee three times a week for months.

His only fob had gradually stopped working at range, and by the time he called me he was pressing it against the door handle just to get a response. He wanted a spare before the thing died completely and left him stranded on a treatment day.

He couldn't easily get to a dealer. Not just because of the distance, but because dropping a car off and arranging a ride back while managing a medical schedule is its own problem. The dealer had quoted him a number for a single key that made him wince, and that was before the tow and the wait.

I came to him. He met me in the lot outside the clinic between appointments.

The original fob still had enough life to verify it was functioning, which told me the car's security system was in good shape and ready to register a new key. I used my diagnostic equipment through the OBD port to add a second fob, confirmed the emergency insert blade was cut correctly to his door cylinder, and walked him through the fob functions before I left.

He tested it himself, twice, before I packed up. Both keys working, both tested, car starts fine.

He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer wanted, and he didn't miss a treatment day. That's the whole job.
