2019 Nissan Maxima Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a text from a guy in Scripps Ranch on a Tuesday afternoon. He was in the parking lot of the shopping center off Scripps Ranch Boulevard, standing next to his 2019 Nissan Maxima. His fob had been intermittent for about a week. That morning it stopped responding entirely. The car was locked, the fob was doing nothing, and he had a meeting he was already late for.
He'd already tried holding the fob right up to the door handle. Nothing. He'd pulled the fob apart in the parking lot and confirmed the CR2032 was dead, so he'd walked to a pharmacy, bought a new battery, swapped it in the parking lot, and still got nothing. At that point he figured the fob itself had failed, which is sometimes right.
I got to him in the lot, opened up the fob housing, and the battery was seated a little off-center. One of the contact clips had a slight bend from where he'd pried it open. The new CR2032 wasn't making clean contact. I straightened the clip, reseated the battery, and the fob came back to life.
He didn't need a new fob programmed. He didn't need a lockout call. He needed someone to look at what was actually in front of them instead of jumping to the expensive answer.
I still checked everything before I packed up: door handles, start button, lock and unlock, the whole routine. When all five buttons were confirmed working and the car recognized the fob normally, we were done. He made it to his meeting.
