2001 Nissan Maxima Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call out to Granite Hills on a weekday morning. Woman had a 2001 Nissan Maxima sitting in her driveway, one key, and she wanted a spare before something went wrong. Her words were something like, "I've had this car long enough that I'm scared I'm going to lose the only key I have."
Smart. A lot of people wait until the problem is already a crisis.
She mentioned she had called the dealer first. They told her to bring the car in and quoted her a price that made her hesitate. Her neighbor had used me before and she figured it was worth a call.
I pulled up with the key blank already confirmed for her vehicle, since she gave me the year and model when she called. Cut the blade to her car on the spot, then went through the transponder enrollment. The Maxima on that generation walks through a specific sequence to register a new key into the immobilizer, and with her original working key present it went clean. New key turned, engine started, no crank-and-die. I handed it to her and let her try it herself a few times while I watched.
The whole thing was done before she finished her coffee. She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer wanted, and she didn't have to leave her driveway. Now she's got a backup sitting in the house and she's not nervous about it anymore.
That's the whole job. Nothing dramatic. Just a woman in Granite Hills who made a smart decision before it became an emergency.
