2016 Toyota Sienna Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a tire shop out in Shadowridge. They had a 2016 Toyota Sienna sitting in their bay, and the owner needed a key.
Another locksmith had already been out, made an attempt at programming, hit errors, and left. The car would not accept any key at that point. The vehicle's security system had locked out normal OBD-level communication after the failed attempt, and now it was sitting there not starting for anyone.
The tire shop had already been patient. The owner needed his van back.
I brought bench-level equipment that lets me read security data directly from the module when the OBD path is blocked. That meant pulling the relevant module, reading the stored data off the chip itself, clearing the fault state, and rebuilding the key registration from a clean baseline. It is slower work than a standard add-a-key, but it is the only path forward when a previous bad attempt leaves the system in that condition.
Once the fault was cleared and the registration rebuilt, the new fob paired on the first attempt. I verified every function: door handle touch unlock on all sides, the start button, the power sliding door buttons, the liftgate, and the remote lock and unlock. Everything came up clean.
The whole job ran about 90 minutes. The owner had been facing a flatbed tow, a multi-day dealer wait, and a bill I cannot quote here but that he described as painful. He got his van back the same afternoon. That is why I carry the bench tools. The easy jobs do not need them. The jobs the other guy walked away from do.
