Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2023 Toyota Sienna Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a woman in Harbison Canyon, right on the Alpine side, who had already been through a bad experience with an unlicensed locksmith. She needed a spare smart key for her 2023 Toyota Sienna and was not going to let just anyone near it. She checked my BSIS license number before she dialed. I respect that completely.

She had found out the hard way that the previous guy had no verifiable credentials. No company name on the receipt, no license number, and a phone that went nowhere a week later. That kind of thing leaves people shaken, and it should.

I pulled up to her place in Harbison Canyon with everything I needed already in the van. The 2023 Sienna smart key system requires diagnostic equipment to register a new fob, no way around it. That means connecting to the vehicle's electronic system through the OBD port, authenticating through the proper security data channel, and enrolling the new fob while keeping all existing keys active. The job was clean. New fob, emergency blade cut to the vehicle, every function tested across all six buttons and both door handles before I packed up.

She watched the whole thing. Asked a few questions about how the system worked, which I was glad to answer. When it was done, she had a working spare and a real receipt with a real license number on it. The dealer had quoted her a significant wait time on top of what they wanted to charge. She saved a good chunk and had it handled the same afternoon, parked in her own driveway.
