2019 Toyota Sienna
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2019 Toyota Sienna Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy visiting family out in Bonita, Chula Vista called me on a Saturday afternoon. He had driven down from the Central Valley in his 2019 Sienna and wanted a spare smart key made while he had time on his hands. Not an emergency, just practical thinking. He had one working fob and no backup, and he'd been meaning to handle it for months.

He asked me straight up: aftermarket or OEM, does it matter?

I've done enough Toyota smart key jobs to give him a real answer instead of a sales pitch. The fob I use is a properly sourced aftermarket unit built to the same specs as the factory fob. Same button count, same housing weight, same internal layout. The difference is the logo on the back. What actually matters is where your locksmith sources their blanks and how well they're vetted. I've tested batches and sent back the ones that don't hold up. My reputation is the thing on the line, not a brand stamp.

I cut the replacement key blade to his vehicle on my machine, paired the new fob through the diagnostic port, and ran every function before I handed it over. Sliding door buttons, lock, unlock, panic, all of it. Took about 40 minutes in his in-laws' driveway.

He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer would have quoted him for the same job. And he drove back up north with a spare that actually works, not a mystery fob sitting in a junk drawer.
