Her dog was in the back seat. August, Ventura, parked near Emma Wood State Beach after a vet visit. Car was off, windows cracked but not enough.
She tried her key and the transponder was not being read. Green immo light on the dash just sat there, solid. Engine cranked but would not fire. She could see the dog panting through the glass.

I was 20 minutes out. Got the door open first so she could pull the dog into shade and get some water going. Then I looked at the key. The 2003 RSX uses a Honda HON66 keyway with a Megamos ID13 transponder chip embedded in the head. Her key blade was fine, but the chip had failed. No signal at all when I tested it with my Autel APB112 emulator near the ignition ring.
Cut a new HD106 blank on site, programmed a fresh ID13 chip through the OBD-II port using the IM608. The immobilizer on these first-gen systems pairs pretty quick once you have the right seed/key calculation running. Green light blinked, went out, engine fired.
From her phone call to her driving away was under 45 minutes. The dog was fine. That is the part that mattered.
