2010 Audi Q7 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy on Upper State Street flagged me down near one of the wine bars on a Tuesday afternoon. He had a 2010 Q7 and one key. That one key had a broken flip hinge, held together with a rubber band. The blade still worked, barely, but he was terrified of snapping it inside the ignition barrel.
He had already called the Audi dealer. They quoted him a number that made him wince, told him the key had to be ordered, and said he was looking at a few weeks out minimum. He found me online that same afternoon.
I pulled up with the blade decoder and programming unit. The flip housing on these is separate from the transponder internals, so the first thing I did was decode the blade while it was still intact. Good call, because by the time I had the measurements, the hinge gave up entirely and the blade separated from the housing.
Cut a new blade to spec, transferred the transponder internals into a fresh housing, programmed the fob to the vehicle's security system on site, and tested every button plus a full start cycle. He went from a rubber-banded key on the verge of snapping to a solid working replacement in about 45 minutes, parked right there on the street. He mentioned the dealer quote exactly once, almost as a joke, and then went back inside.
