A gallery owner near El Presidio State Historic Park in Santa Barbara called me on a Saturday afternoon. I used my VVDI Key Tool to generate the correct AES chip data onto a blank and then programmed the key through the OBD port. No factory ODIS session, no online server handshake, no dealer bay. The immobilizer accepted it the same way it would from Audi's own equipment.
Once the chip was registered, I cut the mechanical blade, then tested everything. Lock, unlock, trunk release on the third button, push to start through the KESSY system, comfort access on the door handles. All confirmed.
She stood there watching, holding a cup of coffee that was still warm when I finished. The whole job took about 40 minutes. She had already been quoted a weekday-only appointment at the dealer with a lead time measured in weeks, not hours. Her car did not know the difference, and neither did the immobilizer.
