2011 Audi Q7 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A pharmaceutical rep was getting tires done at a shop near Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara when she called about her 2011 Q7. Said the flip key was "falling apart." I have heard that phrase a hundred times with these Audis.
When I got there she showed me what she meant. The HU66 blade would not lock open. The plastic pivot was so worn the blade just swung free. She had been pinching it closed with her thumb every time she turned the ignition. Months of that.
The dealer quoted her a full replacement key, programmed and cut from scratch. She thought that was her only option.
I popped the shell open on her hood. The IYZ3314 remote board and the Megamos 48 transponder chip were both fine. No corrosion on the board, no cracked solder joints on the 315 MHz RF module, battery contacts clean. The CR2032 still had juice. The only problem was the housing itself and the worn blade.
I used my VVDI Key Tool to read the transponder data and confirm it matched what her J518 immobilizer module expected. Good read, clean code. Transferred the chip and remote board into a fresh 4F0 837 220 shell, cut a new HU66 blade to her existing key code, and snapped it together.
Blade locked open with a solid click. All three buttons responded. She started the car without the thumb trick for the first time in months and just sat there for a second, like she forgot how normal was supposed to feel.
Saved her a good chunk over the dealer route, and she never left the tire shop parking lot.
