2008 Audi S5 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A driver in Downtown Moorpark called me on a Tuesday afternoon. She had the fob, she had the blade, and she had a car that was done cooperating.
The 2008 S5 was sitting in a lot near the center of town. She'd been nursing it for about a week. The remote buttons were unreliable from more than a few feet away, and getting it to start sometimes meant holding the fob close to the steering column and waiting. Not every time. I got there and opened the fob first. The CR2032 she'd put in was fine, but the contact plate inside had a slight bow from the old battery sitting in there too long. The flip blade pivot also had some play, so whenever the blade wasn't perfectly seated, the whole fob flexed just enough to break contact at the worst moment. That explained the intermittent nature. It wasn't failing every time. It was failing when it flexed.
I straightened the contact, seated the blade properly, and verified the fob was pairing the way it should through the diagnostic port. Then I walked every function: remote lock, remote unlock, the third button, and the blade in the cylinder. It performed clean every time.
She mentioned the dealer had told her the fob was probably failing and quoted her a number that made her pause. She didn't need a new fob. She needed ten minutes and someone who would actually look at the thing before calling it dead.
She drove out of the lot with a key that worked like it was supposed to, for a fraction of what the dealer had quoted her.
