A woman in the River Park/Wagon Wheel area called me on a Tuesday afternoon. She had a 2014 Audi S5 and her proximity fob had stopped waking the door handles. The car would not unlock when she walked up, but if she pressed the unlock button directly the car responded fine. Push-button start still worked when the fob was inside the car. The fob housing itself had a hairline crack along the back plate where the two halves meet, and the internal antenna contact was not seating the way it should. The housing was the problem, not the electronics.
Moved the board into a new shell, confirmed fit, tested every button function and passive entry range from a normal walking distance. Worked the way it was supposed to. She did not need a full new programmed key. She needed the part that was actually broken.
The dealer comparison barely came up. She already knew.
