I got a call from a guy over in Silver Strand, Oxnard. He'd lost his only fob for his 2013 Audi S5 and spent two days assuming the dealer was his only option. The whole thing took about 45 minutes. Not because it's slow, but because the immobilizer sequence has a timed handshake built in and you don't rush it. I tested every function at the car before I packed up. Doors, start, the insert blade in the door lock cylinder, all of it.
He mentioned the dealer quote almost as an aside. Compared to what they wanted, he saved a good chunk. But honestly the bigger win for him was not losing a second day of work waiting on a parts order he couldn't even track.
