A veteran near Cold Spring Trail in Montecito called about his 2020 Chrysler Voyager. He used a wheelchair and his Voyager was set up with hand controls for adapted driving. Getting to a dealer was not just inconvenient, it was a logistical problem he did not have the energy to solve.
His only smart fob's remote buttons had stopped responding weeks earlier. He had been using the emergency key blade in the fob to unlock the door and then holding the dead fob against the start button to get the backup RFID read. It worked, but he knew he was one lost fob away from being stranded.
I went to his facility that morning. The Voyager uses a Y160 keyway on the emergency insert, so I brought my Lishi Y160 to decode the lock directly off the driver cylinder. Read the cuts, verified them against the door, cut two new inserts on my HPC machine right in the parking space.
Then the programming side. Connected to the OBD-II port, authenticated through the Secure Gateway online, and registered both new M3N-97395900 fobs to the WIN module. Walked every button on both fobs: lock, unlock, both power sliding doors, hatch, remote start, panic. Tested push-button start from the driver seat and from the passenger side where he sometimes transfers in.
He watched the whole thing from his chair, about four feet away. Didn't have to leave his building. I handed him two working fobs before noon.
The dealer had quoted him one fob, weeks of wait for the part, and the problem of actually transporting the vehicle there. He kept both fobs and saved a good chunk.
