I was parked near the Hueneme Beach area finishing up another job when the call came in. A guy at the gym parking structure in Port Hueneme had a 2017 Genesis G80 sitting dead in the sense that neither fob was reliably waking the car anymore. On the G80, adding a key requires proper diagnostic equipment - there's no ignition-turn sequence that handles smart key enrollment. I registered both fobs, confirmed the vehicle recognized each one cleanly, and walked every button on both. Lock, unlock, and the other two buttons. Then three start cycles from a normal pocket-carry distance to confirm the passive entry was reading consistently, not just on a good approach angle.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a number that made him pause before even asking about the labor. He saved a good chunk coming to me instead, and the whole job happened in the parking structure without a tow or a service appointment that was a week out.
