2020 Genesis G80 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A doctor with a practice near Mission Canyon called me on a Tuesday. He had a 2020 Genesis G80 and needed a spare smart key made at the car. He'd already been to the dealer once for something unrelated and said the experience left him wanting a different option.
Before he even scheduled, he looked up my BSIS license number on the state website. He told me that when I arrived. He'd also checked that I carried active liability insurance. He said he'd had a bad experience years ago with someone who showed up, couldn't complete the job, and left the vehicle in a worse state than he found it. He wasn't going to do that again with a luxury vehicle.
I carry professional diagnostic equipment that handles Genesis security procedures, so this was a standard job. I connected at the OBD port, ran through the manufacturer's PIN-based access sequence, and registered the new fob to the vehicle. Then I cut the emergency blade to match the locks and tested every function at the car: door handles, start button, lock, unlock, all four buttons.
The whole thing was done in the driveway. He compared what he paid to what the dealer had quoted for the same job. His word was "significant." Mine is just: call first, get the number on the phone, and decide from there.
That's what the license and insurance are for. Not just to get the job, but to stand behind it.
