Older Honda models with the edge-cut ignition are some of the fastest key jobs I do. The lock is simple to decode, the key blank is simple to cut, and the immobilizer programming on these is the quickest Honda made. A spare when you already have one working can be done in 15 to 20 minutes.

A food truck operator near River Ridge Golf Course had his key snap in the ignition of his 2011 Honda Odyssey early one morning. Half the blade was stuck in the cylinder and the other half was in his hand. He couldn't turn the car off cleanly and was afraid to force it. I could hear the panic in his voice when he called.

His car uses a separate remote fob, FCC ID N5F-A04TAA, so the fob was fine. I just needed to cut and program a new transponder blade. The immobilizer accepted the new chip after one registration cycle.

He was back on the road in under an hour from when he called, and the total bill was 185. A dealer would have charged 395 minimum plus the tow and a multi-day wait. A snapped key at a food lot feels like a disaster. For these older Hondas, it's one of the simplest jobs I run.
