2026 Honda Odyssey
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: The dealer told me I have to tow my Odyssey in for an all-keys-lost job. Is that true?

It's the dealer's process, not the only process. Mobile locksmiths with the right diagnostic equipment can handle all-keys-lost on site. Towing adds cost and time before the dealer even pulls your van into the bay. I come to where the vehicle is sitting, whether that's your driveway in Waverly Heights or a parking lot, and handle the whole job there.

Q: How long does an all-keys-lost job take on the 2026 Odyssey?

On site, plan for 45 to 90 minutes. That covers connecting to the vehicle, running the security enrollment, cutting the blade, and testing the fob functions and the emergency insert. Where it takes longer at a dealer is everything around the actual work: check-in, waiting for a tech to open up, parts being pulled from stock. The labor on the key itself isn't dramatically different, but you're not also sitting in a waiting room.

Q: My 2026 Odyssey fob works fine for starting but the sliding door buttons stopped responding. What's going on?

If the vehicle still recognizes the fob for starting and the lock and unlock buttons work, the fob itself is almost certainly fine. The power sliding door system on the Odyssey is its own circuit, and those door buttons talk to a separate module from the one handling lock and unlock. First thing I'd check is whether the power sliding doors are enabled inside the vehicle. There's a switch that disables them, and it's easy to bump accidentally.

Q: Can I buy a replacement fob online and just have it programmed?

Sometimes, but there's a catch worth knowing. The fob has to match the factory ID for the vehicle. A fob from a different region or a misrepresented aftermarket unit may not register correctly even with the right tools. If you already bought one, bring it. I'll tell you quickly whether it's compatible. If it's not, sourcing the right one and programming it is still faster and less expensive than the dealer route.

2026 Honda Odyssey Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Waverly Heights, I got a call from a woman who needed a spare key made for her 2026 Honda Odyssey. Before she even told me what she needed, she mentioned she'd looked up my BSIS license number online. Said she'd been burned before by a guy who showed up in a personal car, had no paperwork, and whose phone was disconnected a week after he finished the job.

I understood immediately. She was heading to a dialysis appointment nearby and didn't have a lot of time to waste on someone she couldn't verify.

I pulled up in the van, credentials visible, and got to work. The 2026 Odyssey smart key system requires diagnostic equipment to register a new fob. There's no button sequence in the cabin, no ignition-turn trick. I connected through the OBD port, ran the registration procedure, and cut a blade for the emergency insert. The whole thing took under an hour in her driveway.

She watched the whole process, which I don't mind at all. When you can see exactly what's happening, there's nothing to wonder about afterward.

She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a number over the phone that was well over what she paid me, and I'd come to her. She got a real receipt with my license number, a working phone number, and a company name she could look up. She said that part mattered as much as anything else.

LCO#6792 is on the BSIS website if you want to check it right now. That's public record and it's there for a reason.

Honda Odyssey Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

I lost all my keys to my 2026 Honda Odyssey. Can you still make one?▼

Yes, and it's one of the more common calls I get on late-model Hondas. All-keys-lost on the 2026 Odyssey means the vehicle has no registered fobs at all, so the procedure has to clear whatever the system is holding and write fresh credentials from scratch. I connect through the OBD port, run the security enrollment sequence, cut a blade for the physical insert, and test everything before I leave. No tow, no dealer visit.
