2011 Honda Odyssey
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you are not a scam locksmith?

Three things to ask before anyone shows up: license number, company name, and a firm price for your specific vehicle. Scam operations quote a number on the phone and then change it once they are in your driveway. We tell you the price upfront for a 2011 Odyssey remote head key job, we show up in a marked vehicle, and the price does not move. If a locksmith won't give you a firm quote before arriving, that's your answer.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like the original?

It should, and we verify that on the spot before we leave. For the 2011 Odyssey remote head key, that means testing the ignition start, then walking through all five remote buttons to confirm each one responds. The transponder registration and the remote pairing are two separate procedures, and both get confirmed. If anything is off, we catch it right there in your driveway rather than you discovering it later at night in a parking lot.

Q: My 2011 Odyssey remote head key works fine in the ignition but the remote buttons stopped responding. Do I need a whole new key?

Not necessarily. Start with the battery. The remote head key on this van runs a CR2025, and a dead or weak cell kills the remote functions while leaving the ignition side completely unaffected since those are independent systems. Pull the key apart, swap in a fresh CR2025, and make sure the contact clips are sitting flat against the battery and not bent away from it.

Q: I bought a replacement remote head key online for my 2011 Odyssey. Can I program it myself?

The remote portion of the 2011 Odyssey key does have an onboard pairing sequence you can attempt yourself, and some owners have had success with it. The transponder side is a different story. Registering the chip requires a professional tool connected to the OBD port. So if you bought a replacement online and need it to both start the car and work the remote, you still need a locksmith or dealer to handle the transponder registration.

2011 Honda Odyssey Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked at the boat launch area near Marina West when this one came in. A guy called about his 2011 Odyssey, said his key snapped in the ignition. Half the blade was still in the cylinder, and the other half was sitting in his palm. He was doing early prep for work and needed the van running.

He was calm on the phone but I could tell he was doing the math in his head on how bad his morning was about to get.

I got there and used a Lishi tool to extract the broken piece clean. The wafers were fine, no damage. I decoded the cut from the lock, ran the blade on my cutter, and then registered the transponder in the new key head. The 2011 Odyssey uses a five-button remote head key, so the remote functions needed to be paired as well. Lock, unlock, all five buttons tested before I called it done.

Total time from his call to him pulling out of the lot: just under an hour.

He mentioned the dealer was a tow away and a wait measured in days. That detail registered on his face a second after he said it, like he'd already done that math before he called me.

Honda Odyssey Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Honda vehicles?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz is licensed through the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, the state agency that regulates automotive locksmiths. We carry full liability insurance. You can ask for the license number before we roll, and you can verify it directly with the state. For a 2011 Odyssey, the job involves both cutting a replacement blade and registering the transponder through the OBD port, and we have the equipment and credentials to handle both sides of that.
