2020 Honda Odyssey Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A call came in from a rideshare driver near the coin laundry off Lynn Ranch Road in Thousand Oaks. He was sitting on a full load of laundry and a 2020 Honda Odyssey that would start but whose fob buttons were completely dead. He'd already paid another locksmith to fix it.
The first thing he asked was how he could verify I was actually licensed before handing over any more money. Completely fair. I read him my BSIS license number on the phone and told him to look it up on the state website while we talked. He did, right there, and that seemed to settle it.
When I got to him, the story got clearer. The previous guy had run a programming procedure but hadn't verified the outcome. The fob would communicate well enough to start the engine, but the remote functions had not been registered properly. The van would start and that was it. Seven buttons, one working outcome.
I connected my diagnostic tool, cleared the partial enrollment, and ran the full smart key registration from scratch. Walked every button on the fob afterward, both sliding doors, liftgate, lock, unlock, panic. Everything confirmed. He watched the whole thing from a plastic laundry chair.
He paid exactly what I quoted on the phone. The dealer's estimate for the same work was a good chunk more than that, and the first locksmith had charged even more and left the job half-done.
