A college student at a storage facility off Thompson Boulevard in Ventura called me on a Monday. He had a U-Haul reserved for Wednesday, his apartment move was timed to the day, and his 2007 Odyssey key had just stopped working. He called the dealer first. They told him Thursday at the earliest, plus he would need to tow it in.
Thursday meant missing the truck reservation. Missing the truck meant missing the move.
I pulled up to the storage lot that same Monday afternoon. He was standing next to the Odyssey with the U-Haul paperwork in his hand, doing the math on how many things were about to fall apart. He barely said hello before asking how long it would take.
I connected my programmer through the OBD-II port, ran the Honda immobilizer handshake on the ID46 chip, and cut the HO03 blade on site. Part number 35111-S9A-305. Three-button remote head key: lock, unlock, trunk. I programmed it, handed it over, and had him run through everything. Remote lock from ten feet. Remote unlock. Ignition start. All good.
The whole thing took about 25 minutes. He just stood there holding both keys like he was waiting for a catch.
Monday call, Monday fix. He made his Wednesday move with time to spare. The dealer route would have had him still waiting.
