2014 Honda Odyssey
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you're not one of those bait-and-switch locksmiths?

Fair question, and it's one worth asking anyone who shows up at your driveway. The pattern with scam operations is a low phone quote and a number that changes once they're already on site. We give you a firm price on the phone specific to your 2014 Odyssey, we show up in a branded vehicle, and that price does not move. If a locksmith won't give you a total before arriving, that's your answer right there.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like my original fob?

Yes. We program the new fob to the vehicle's immobilizer so the engine starts, and we set up all the remote functions. On a 6-button Odyssey fob, that means we walk through lock, unlock, and the other buttons and confirm each one is responding before we close up. We also cut the emergency insert key and test it in the door cylinder. If anything is off, we catch it on the spot, not after we've left.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2014 Odyssey. Can you just program it, or is it useless?

If the fob you bought carries the correct factory FCC ID for the Odyssey, there's a real chance we can work with it. The programming still requires diagnostic equipment connected to the OBD port. There's no button sequence or ignition trick that registers a smart key on this vehicle. Bring the fob and we'll check it before committing to anything. If it's the wrong frequency or a clone with bad internals, we'll tell you straight and talk through options.

Q: One of my Odyssey's sliding door buttons stopped working on the fob but the rest of the buttons are fine. Is the fob failing?

Not necessarily. On the Odyssey, the sliding door buttons on the fob work in conjunction with the door's own motor and control system. If only those specific buttons are dead but lock, unlock, and start are all normal, the fob itself is probably fine. The issue is more likely on the door side: the motor, the door's own control unit, or a setting in the vehicle that has the power door feature disabled.

2014 Honda Odyssey Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy out at Oxnard Shores called me on a Monday morning. He had his 2014 Odyssey loaded halfway for a move, his fob had stopped responding the night before, and he had already called the dealer. They told him they could get him in Thursday, key ordered by Friday, maybe.

He had movers scheduled for Tuesday.

I pulled up to his place with the van while he was still taping boxes. The fob battery checked out fine, so this wasn't a quick swap fix. I connected my programmer to the OBD port, ran through Honda's immobilizer registration sequence for the new fob, and got it enrolled. Cut the blade for the insert key, tested it in the door cylinder. Then the full walkthrough: lock, unlock, both sliding doors, the hatch, start. Everything confirmed before I touched my tools.

He asked me what the dealer would have charged. I told him to call and ask. He already had the quote from that morning. He just shook his head.

Monday problem, Monday fix. When someone has movers showing up the next morning, "come back Thursday" isn't really a quote. It's just a no.
