Got a call from a woman out near Wheeler Hot Springs in Ojai. She had a 1997 Honda Odyssey, the first-gen RA1 body, and her only remote had gone through the wash. I met her in a parking lot off the main road. The A269ZUA101 remote is a four-button unit, part number 39950-S01-A01. No transponder involved on this year. The 1997 Odyssey uses a simple key-in-ignition self-programming sequence for the remote receiver. You cycle the ignition, use the lock button on the driver door, and the system enters learn mode. Held the lock and unlock on the new remote, got the confirmation lock cycle, done.
Whole thing took about fifteen minutes including swapping the CR2025 into the new shell and testing every button from ten feet away. She clicked the unlock walking back to the van with her kid on her hip, heard the locks pop, and just kept walking. Didn't even look back.
