Q: How long does the actual work take once you arrive at my van?

1997 Honda Odyssey Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A woman called me from the parking area near Downtown Ojai, across from the arcade of shops on Ojai Avenue. She had her 1997 Odyssey, a full load of farmers market bags, and a fob that had stopped locking the doors two days prior. She had already swapped the battery herself, which was the right call, but it did not help.

When I got there she handed me the fob and I could feel it before I even opened it. The case had a small crack near the battery cover seam, probably from being dropped on pavement. Inside, one of the battery contact clips had bent just enough to lose consistent contact with the CR2025. The board itself looked clean.

I reset the clip, seated a fresh CR2025, and put the case back together. Then I ran through the buttons standing at the van: lock, unlock, and the remaining two. All four responded. Doors locked, unlocked, everything clicked over the way it should.

She had been ready to go to the dealer and order a whole new remote. The factory fob part number alone at a Honda dealer is not cheap, and they typically want to verify the vehicle before ordering, which means a visit before the visit. She saved a good chunk by not going that route.

The whole stop took about fifteen minutes. She loaded her bags and headed home before the avocados could get any warmer.
