Got a call from a physical therapist near the Ojai Trolley route. She had patients stacked all day, her 1999 Honda Odyssey was sitting dead in the clinic lot, and she could not leave to deal with a dealer. She said she had tried something with the key and now the green immobilizer light just blinked at her and the engine cranked but would not catch. When I got there I checked the mechanical side with my HON66 Lishi and the blade was cutting clean through the wafers, no binding. So the cylinder was fine. I pulled the key head apart and found the T5 glass transponder had shifted inside the housing. Tiny crack in the plastic near the chip pocket, probably from being on a heavy keyring for twenty years.
Plugged into the OBD port, ran the immobilizer registration, and programmed a fresh BHD106-PT with a new ID13 chip cloned to match her ECU. Cut the blade on my machine to match the existing bitting. Then I cut a second spare so she would never be down to one key again.
She came out after her one o'clock patient to two working keys sitting on her front desk. Her Odyssey never moved from the spot. The dealer had quoted her a tow plus a full day wait. She just needed someone to show up with the right blank and the right tools during a lunch hour.
