The dash threw "No Key Detected" when he tried to restart. Push button did nothing. He'd already tried the hold-fob-to-button trick. Still dead. The KR5T4X wouldn't even unlock the doors anymore.
I pulled up with my Autel IM608 and started with the basics. Fresh CR2032, cleaned the contacts. Nothing. Connected to the OBD port and pulled codes: B1278 (transponder authentication error) and U0155 (lost communication with IPC). The key's AES128 chip had failed completely.
Cut a new emergency blade on my Xhorse Condor. Registered the replacement KR5T4X through the BCM. The Odyssey's IMMO takes about 12 minutes to complete the learn cycle, with three separate security handshakes between the BCM, PCM, and keyless unit.
While we waited for the final countdown, he mentioned the dealer quoted him two days wait time just to get on the schedule. Plus the tow. Plus whatever they'd charge for the diagnosis before even talking about a new key.
Everything verified: all seven buttons, walk-away lock, remote start, and three clean engine starts. Fixed right there by the golf carts for a fraction of what the dealer wanted.
