2019 Hyundai Kona Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
It was 7:45 in the morning when she called. She was in a staffing agency parking lot near Rincon Point in Carpinteria, trying to get to a placement that started at 8:30. Her 2019 Kona would not respond to the fob at all. Push-to-start was dead. She had a job on the line.
I was at her lot in about twenty minutes.
She had already tried holding the fob right up against the start button, which is the right instinct on these when the battery gets low, but nothing happened. I got the door open mechanically using the emergency blade tucked inside the fob itself, then connected through the OBD port to pull the PIN and run a fresh key registration. The old fob credentials got cleared out and a replacement fob, loaded with a fresh CR2032, went through programming cleanly. Hands-on time was about twenty-five minutes.
She made it. Just under the wire.
I heard from her again a couple weeks later. She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a tow plus a full-day wait. That kind of timeline would have ended the placement before it started. What she needed was someone who could show up at a parking lot near Rincon Point at 8am on a Tuesday and just get it done. That is exactly what I do.
