2012 Jaguar XF Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in the East End, there's a cluster of older medical buildings tucked behind the main corridor where the parking structure has those low ceilings you see maybe every ten years. A cardiologist called me because his 2012 XF was sitting on the lower level and his key fob had completely given up. No door response, no start, nothing. He'd already tried the emergency blade in the door and it wouldn't turn.
The dealer told him to get the car out to them first. He said he'd been staring at that advice for three hours trying to figure out how it was supposed to work when the car wouldn't open.
I drove in and walked down with my gear. The low clearance wasn't a problem for me -- I was on foot with a bag. The first thing I did was check the door lock cylinder. It had gummed up enough that the emergency blade needed a little persuasion and some lubricant before it turned. Once I had the door open, the rest was a proper on-site key replacement: new smart fob programmed to the vehicle's key management module using my JLR-capable diagnostic equipment, cut replacement blade, full function test on every button and both door handles.
His car never moved. He stood there watching the door handles light up and said something about how he'd spent the whole morning assuming the car had to leave the garage before anyone could fix it.
The dealer comparison came up later, almost as an aside. What mattered to him was that the car was drivable again before lunch, in the same spot where it had been stuck since the night before.
