A financial planner near Libbey Park in Ojai called me on a Monday. His 2018 Jaguar XF smart key had cracked over the weekend, the housing split right along the seam near the emergency blade slot. Popped the broken KOBJTF10A open on his hood, transferred the circuit board and Hitag Pro chip into a fresh 5-button housing, new CR2032 seated correctly. Then I connected the IM608 to the OBD port, ran the KVM module diagnostic, and re-registered the fob so the system recognized the new housing cleanly.
Tested everything one by one. Push-to-start, passive entry on all four doors, trunk release, panic, lock and unlock range from about 30 feet out. He came down from his office, clicked the fob once, watched the mirrors fold, and just nodded.
His car never left that garage. The whole thing took about 45 minutes during a lunch break he was already taking. The dealer would have burned most of a Thursday and cost a good chunk more, plus the tow.
