2007 Jeep Commander Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call one evening from a guy stuck on the shoulder just outside Simi Valley, near Mountain Gate Plaza. He was a traveling salesman, mid-route, and his 2007 Jeep Commander just quit on him. Turned it off at a pulloff to check his phone, and it would not restart. Cranked but no fire. The red Sentry Key light on the dash cluster was solid, which meant the SKIM module was not seeing a valid transponder signal.
He had already tried the usual stuff. Held the key closer. Tried his spare. Nothing.
The dealer was closed for the day. He found me online and called.
I got out there that evening with my kit. Pulled the fob apart on the hood and the transponder circuit trace on the board had a hairline crack. The remote side was fine, lock and unlock worked, but the 4D chip side was dead. I used my VVDI2 to read the transponder data off his second key, built a new OHT692427AA remote head key, cut the Y160-PT blade to match his door, and programmed the new key through the OBDII port to the SKIM module.
He sat in his Commander, tested every button, started it twice, and just nodded. Back on the highway in under an hour.
