New CR2032 in, PIN pulled through Kia's online diagnostic path, smart key re-registered to the car. Then I did the walk-around: all four buttons, driver and passenger door handle proximity, trunk release, push-button start from both front seats. Everything came back clean.
From her phone call to engine running, 44 minutes. She just stood there watching the AC vents blow cold and said, "The ice cream might actually make it."
It did. And it cost her a fraction of what the dealer quoted for a next-day visit.
