2022 Kia Stinger Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A rideshare driver reached me on a weekday afternoon while he was sitting at a shop near Upper State Street waiting on brakes. He had a 2022 Kia Stinger and a problem that was already a week old.
He'd hired someone off a low-bid Google ad. That locksmith showed up, spent about 40 minutes on it, collected payment, and left him with a fob that would lock and unlock from the parking lot but threw a key-not-detected warning every time he pressed the start button. The car wouldn't move. He was still driving for the app, which meant this wasn't an inconvenience, it was a work stoppage.
He asked me point blank how he'd know I was any different. I gave him my BSIS license number on the phone and told him to pull it up on the state site while we were talking. He did. That's the right move and I don't hold it against anyone who checks.
When I got to him, I could see what happened. The remote pairing had gone through fine, both sides of that verified when I ran the diagnostic. But the immobilizer enrollment hadn't completed. The fob the other locksmith used was an aftermarket unit, and the tool he ran it through had stopped short of finishing the security registration. The car's security system saw the fob as a stranger every time he hit the button.
I ran the full enrollment sequence through the proper access path into Kia's system. All five buttons came up clean, the push-to-start saw the fob without hesitation, and the warning cleared off the dash.
He said the dealer had quoted him a wait time of nearly a week for an appointment plus the key work. He was back on the road before his brakes were even done.
