Got a call from Via Marina neighborhood in Oxnard. Guy had a 2011 LR2 HSE sitting in his driveway, one key left, and the emergency blade on it was worn down to almost nothing. He had been using just the smart key buttons for years and never stuck the blade in a lock, so he didn't notice how bad it had gotten until his wife tried the valet key and it barely turned.
He had already called the dealer. They told him to bring the car in and the key, wait for a blank to be ordered, and come back. Two trips minimum. He asked how long. They said a week, maybe more, depending on parts availability. The LR2 uses the HU101 keyway, and dealer blanks for these come through Jaguar Land Rover's parts pipeline, which is not always fast.
I showed up with the KOBJTF10A blank and my Lishi HU101 pick and decoder. Read the wafers right off the driver door, cut the new blade on site, then connected to the OBD port to program the Hitag 2 chip through the KVM. The whole passive start handshake, the RF remote, all five buttons, tested on every door and the tailgate.
He stood there watching the blade get cut and kept turning his old key over in his hand, comparing. Said he should have done this a year ago.
Thirty minutes, his driveway, done. The dealer route would have eaten a week and cost him a good chunk more.
