A call came in from the Historic District in Oxnard. The owner had a 2012 LR2, one key, and that key had been acting up for weeks before it finally stopped working altogether. She was using the insert blade just to get in the door. The vehicle would not respond to the fob at all, no locks, nothing.

I ran the diagnostic and the fob was not registering with the vehicle at all. The key ID was gone from the system. It had dropped out, which does happen on these. I pulled up the vehicle security module through the OBD port, cleared the existing key data, and re-registered her fob. Walked every button, checked the insert blade in the door cylinder, verified the vehicle started and the system recognized the key correctly. Took about forty minutes total on the street in front of her house.
She had called the Land Rover dealer before reaching out to me. They told her the fob might need to be ordered and to expect a wait before they could even get started. I was done before she would have gotten a callback confirming the appointment.
