Out in Port Hueneme, off Surfside Drive area, a delivery driver flagged me down after his key blade snapped clean inside the ignition of his 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport. Half the blade still in the cylinder, the other half in his hand. He was done for the day unless someone fixed it.
He had already called another locksmith. That guy wanted to drill the ignition cylinder, replace the whole assembly, cut new keys from scratch. Big job, big price.
I used a DAT17 Lishi tool to slide in alongside the broken fragment and pull it out without scratching the wafer surfaces. Once the fragment was clear, I decoded the lock right there by reading each wafer position for the exact cut depths. No guessing, no drilling, no replacing a perfectly good cylinder.
Cut the new emergency insert blade from the decode. Then programmed the Hitag AES transponder through the OBD port so the NATS6 system would recognize it. Tested the KR5TXN3 fob on all four buttons, checked push-to-start, walked the doors for proximity lock and unlock.
The whole time he just stood there watching, arms crossed, like he was waiting for something to go wrong. When the engine fired on the first press, he uncrossed his arms and said, "That's it?"
That's it. Same lock, same cylinder, new key. A fraction of what the other guy quoted.
