2021 Nissan Rogue Sport
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2021 Nissan Rogue Sport Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy parked near Carpinteria State Beach. He'd been out since early morning, did his thing, came back to the lot, and his only fob was gone. Checked his bag, checked his pockets, walked back toward the beach twice. Nothing. The 2021 Rogue Sport was just sitting there in the sun.

He'd already called the Nissan dealer. They were sympathetic. They also told him they couldn't see him until the next business day, quoted him a number that made him wince, and reminded him he'd need a tow because he had no key to drive it in. He called me right after that.

I got to the lot inside two hours. All-keys-lost on this generation means the immobilizer has to be reset completely before any new fob will take. The old key, wherever it ended up, gets wiped in that process too, so nobody walking out of the sand with a found fob is going to be driving his car away.

I picked and decoded the door lock mechanically, cut a blade to match, then connected through the OBD port and ran the full reset and enrollment sequence. Programmed a primary fob and a spare while I was already in the system, because doing it at the same time costs him a lot less than a second all-keys-lost visit later.

Both fobs tested clean. Push-button start, door handle touch unlock on both sides, lock and unlock from across the lot. He drove out of Carpinteria State Beach under his own power that afternoon. The dealer route would have cost him a tow, a day of waiting, and a bill that was a good chunk higher than what he paid me.

He told me he didn't even know mobile locksmiths did this kind of work. Most people don't.
