Wilson Park resident called about his new Z. Push button wouldn't recognize the key half the time. Had to hold the fob against the button like the battery was dead, but he'd already changed it twice.
Met him at his place near the park. Popped open the NCF29A1X fob right there on his driveway. The CR2032 was fresh but there was corrosion buildup on the negative contact spring. Classic sign of the intermittent detection issue these fobs get.
Cleaned both contacts down to bare metal, bent the spring for better tension, new Panasonic CR2032. Then the test routine: lock, unlock, trunk, panic, walk away and back for the proximity sensors.
