I got a call from a guy over in Hollywood by the Sea, right off the water. He had his 2008 Pontiac G5 parked in the driveway and one key to his name. That key snapped in the ignition - not the door lock, the ignition itself - and half of it was still sitting in the cylinder.

Then I decoded the lock so the new key blank got cut to the right profile. After that, the programming side - getting the transponder in the new key recognized by the immobilizer so the car would actually run and not just crank.
He mentioned the dealer while I was working. Said he'd called them first and they told him to have it towed in, schedule an appointment, and plan on a couple of days. He lived two blocks from the ocean and his car was sitting in his own driveway. Towing it somewhere to wait wasn't exactly appealing.
Whole job done on site. One visit. He kept saying he didn't realize anyone did this kind of work outside a shop. Now he knows.
