2010 Pontiac G5 Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a guy in the Channel Islands neighborhood in Oxnard. His 2010 G5 had one key left and his kid bent it trying to pry open a package. The blade still turned the ignition, barely, but the plastic bow had cracked right along the seam where the transponder capsule sits. He could see the little glass tube hanging halfway out.

He had already called the dealer. They told him to tow it in, order the key, wait a few days for the blank to arrive, then come back for the cut and program. Two trips minimum. He works at the naval base and does not have that kind of schedule flexibility.

I pulled up, grabbed a B111-PT blank from stock, and cut it on the portable HPC machine right on his street. Then I plugged into the OBD-II port under the dash and ran the PK3+ transponder registration through the Tech2 emulator. The G5 does a ten-minute security relearn where the theft light blinks and you just wait. Three cycles of that. He stood there watching his phone the whole time.

Once the new key passed all three relearn cycles the THEFT SYSTEM indicator went off and the car fired right up. Thirty-five minutes, start to finish, in his driveway. He kept the cracked key as a backup turner, but I told him not to trust it since that exposed chip could short out or fall out any day.
