2012 Porsche Panamera Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call at 6:30 in the morning from a guy out in the Hope Ranch community in Santa Barbara. He flies charter and had a preflight to make at a private strip. His 2012 Panamera wouldn't unlock or start. Dead smart key, dead situation, and the dealer wouldn't be open for another two hours.
I made it out there in about 25 minutes. The Panamera was sitting in his driveway, fog still coming off the hills behind it.
First thing I did was use my HU66 Lishi to pick the driver door, since the 970 Panamera uses the HU66 keyway for its mechanical backup. Got inside, pulled the lower dash panel, and connected through the OBD port. His fob, the KR55WK50138 with part number 7PP-959-753-BQ, had a completely flat CR2032. But the bigger issue was the KESSY module. He mentioned an independent shop had swapped his main battery a week earlier, and that had wiped the fob registration from the KESSY controller.
I put a fresh CR2032 in the fob, re-registered the key to the KESSY through OBD diagnostics, and then walked every function. Lock, unlock, all five buttons, trunk release, panic, push-button start from inside, and the passive entry on both front door handles. Everything came back clean.
He grabbed his flight bag and was in the hangar by 7:15. Didn't have to call a flatbed, didn't have to miss his charter, didn't have to sit at the Porsche dealer all morning for a fraction of the job I just did on his driveway.
