2024 Toyota Bz4x
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2024 Toyota Bz4x Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

It was just before 5:30 in the morning when my phone went off. A guy parked near the supply lots off the waterfront in Santa Barbara, not far from Stearns Wharf, and his bZ4X would not respond to anything. Push-button would not wake up, handle touch unlock was dead, and his crew was already loading for a 6 a.m. start. He needed to move.

I was pulling into the lot by 5:55.

The fob battery was the first thing I checked. CR2450, and it was low enough to drop the fob below the detection threshold the car needs for proximity entry and push-button start. That explained why everything went quiet at once. Swapped the cell, tested the handle sensors on all four doors, confirmed push-button response, and then connected through the OBD port to verify the vehicle security system was reading the key cleanly with no stored faults.

Clean on all counts. No registration work needed, just a verified key and a confirmed system.

He was backing out of that lot before 6:15. I tucked a spare CR2450 in his glovebox before I left. The dealer would have meant a tow, a service write-up, and most of a lost workday. That morning it meant none of those things.
