A Euro specialist shop in the Hobson Park area of Oxnard called me on a job that had already gone sideways before I arrived.
A customer's 2018 S90 was sitting in their bay after a timing belt service. The shop had brought in another locksmith to add a key while the car was already there. That locksmith tried an OBD-based programming attempt, hit an error mid-write, and walked. The car wouldn't start. The body control electronics were throwing faults and rejecting any new key registration attempt. The shop was stuck with a customer car that wouldn't run and no idea what the first locksmith had actually done to it.

I pulled the module, read the secured data off it, cleared the corruption the failed attempt had left behind, and wrote it back clean. From that dump I was able to generate a fresh key and register it to the module before reinstalling it. When the CEM came back online, it accepted the new fob on the first attempt without hesitation.
The shop foreman watched the whole process. I walked him through what the first locksmith had likely done wrong and what to watch for if a locksmith ever quotes them a Volvo job again.
The whole thing ran about two hours, module out and back in. The customer got his car that afternoon. The alternative the shop had already started pricing out was a flatbed to the Volvo dealer, a likely module replacement, and a minimum of several days' wait. He paid a fraction of what that route would have cost and left the same day.
