Got called out to Wagon Wheel neighborhood for a 2021 S90 that wouldn't recognize the owner's only key. She'd already tried the CR2032 swap twice.
The YGOHUF8423 fob looked perfect. No cracks, fresh battery, all four buttons clicked. But the car kept throwing "Key not detected" every time she touched the door handle. She was doing the manual key blade shuffle just to get in.
I checked the basics first. CR2032 seated right, contacts clean. Then I tested remote range. The fob would lock and unlock from maybe three feet away. That's when I knew we had a dying transponder, not a dead battery.
Connected my Yanhua Mini ACDP to the OBD port. The CEM4 module showed the key's signal strength barely registering. On SPA platform Volvos, when the DST AES chip starts failing, you get these partial symptoms. Remote works poorly, passive entry dies completely, but sometimes the backup coil still reads it.
Programmed a fresh YGOHUF8423 through VIDA protocol. The new key paired in eight minutes flat. Tested every function: door handle touch sensors, remote start, even the hands-free tailgate. All working at proper range.
She asked about dealer pricing while I packed up. Said they quoted her a week wait. I just nodded and handed her the working key.
