2003 Cadillac Escalade Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in San Luis Rey, I got a call from someone who had been putting off the spare key situation on her 2003 Escalade for about two years. The original fob still worked, mostly.
She'd lost the backup during a move and just never dealt with it. Then the primary fob started acting up: lock and unlock were inconsistent, and she had to be practically touching the door handle for it to respond. She figured it was finally time.
She'd already called the Cadillac dealer. Parts quoted her on the fob. Then service quoted her on programming. Then she asked about the blade cut and got a third number. By the time she added it up, she was looking at a real chunk of money and a scheduling window that didn't work around her day.
I pulled up to the parking area near her building in the early afternoon. The Escalade is a full-size SUV, so there's plenty of room to work, and I had the replacement fob prepped before I even knocked on her door.
I ran the programming through the OBD port. On these early 2000s GM trucks, the process is clean and fast once the equipment is connected. The transponder gets enrolled to the vehicle's immobilizer, the remote functions get paired, and then I go through every button and every door to confirm it's all live. Lock, unlock, trunk release, all of it tested before I close the case.
She ended up with one freshly programmed spare and a working primary. The dealer quote was sitting on her phone the whole time as a reference. She saved a good chunk without rearranging her week to do it.
