1995 Chevrolet Astro Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
He was at the taco shop in Lemon Grove, right near the Encanto Border side, and his backpack was gone. Grabbed from the booth while he was at the counter. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it in one shot.
He borrowed the cashier's phone and called the police first, then his girlfriend, then me.
His 1995 Astro was sitting in the lot with zero keys. His girlfriend called the dealer while waiting. They said the van would need to be towed in, and since the stolen key could still open the doors, they recommended rekeying the locks at the same time. The estimate came back at a number that made her sit down.
I got there that evening. The job on a van like this is mechanical start to finish. I decoded the door lock, cut a new key to match, and checked it in the ignition. Then I talked to him about the stolen key situation. Since the original key had no electronics in it, any physical copy of it still fits the lock. Rekeying the door and ignition cylinders is the only real answer to that, and we handled it on-site.
He drove home that night. The dealer wanted a tow, a wait, and a fraction of his month. We handled it in the parking lot before the police called back.
