2013 Chevrolet Avalanche Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already running calls in the Poway Business Park area on a Saturday evening when the call came in. A couple had walked out to the parking lot near the business park after dinner and their 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche wouldn't start. The key turned, the dash lit up, and then nothing. It had started fine that morning.
She had a spare key at home but it was forty minutes away and her husband wasn't sure it had ever been programmed. They'd bought the truck used a couple years back and the second key came in an envelope in the glovebox.
I had the right key blank in stock. Cut it on site, programmed the transponder to the truck's immobilizer using my equipment, and tested it through three full start cycles before I said a word about being done. The original key turned out to have a cracked transponder housing that was intermittently losing the signal. On cold mornings it worked. By evening, after the plastic had flexed enough times, the chip inside had shifted just enough to cause a no-start.
The spare from the glovebox turned out to be uncut. Never used. I cut and programmed that one too while I was there, so they left with two working keys instead of one.
The dealer was their backup plan for Monday. They didn't need it.
